Casey and Nick's Love story: 10 years in the making... Casey and Nick met in the 7th grade at King Middle school, sharing a few classes together. Sat next to each other in a few with the C’s for last names. Nick had a HUGE crush on Casey, Casey was meanwhile distracted by sports. We then went on to different high schools, then Nick to the Marines and Casey to University of Florida. 10 years later, Nick takes a shot and reaches out to Casey. After a few weeks of sweet talking, Casey agrees to their first date in Orlando. Starting at Disney Springs, then Chuy’s, then the Orlando Eye, then Yard House for drinks, and finally ending with Christmas movies on the couch. Nick spent the next 8 months driving back and forth to Orlando for weekends while Casey finished graduate school. He couldn’t stay away for long from Casey’s beagle pup, Rosie. The two became attached very quickly. 3 years, 2 moves, 1 house and addition of a puppy, we finally have our happily ever after. The proposal… In the middle of a pandemic, romance and surprises take special planning. Nick surprised Casey with bringing her back to the Orlando Eye with best friends and parents where he would propose and FINALLY kiss her at the top. Corona beers were shared by all in a cheers celebration and followed by champagne at their favorite place, Fleming’s Steakhouse. What is the one thing you love most about each other? Casey: his heart, he’s a goofball and keeps me from being too serious, he’s always my #1 fan and hype man (always bragging about his wife to be) Nick: she keeps me grounded, she’s a “walking Google” with all the answers, she complete’s me.
What was your style inspiration for the overall aesthetic and feel of your wedding? Rustic elegance. Pops of gold to be a little extra fancy. What was your favorite part about your venue? In other words, what made you choose it? It felt like a destination wedding without the stress of getting to the destination. You’re transported out of Florida palm trees and into the woodsy mountains. The Craft family cabin is in Maine and that quickly became Nick’s Happy Place while dating. The venue has some aesthetic that nods to that. From the moment we drove and down the tree lined Drive, our breath was taken away. Made it a pretty easy choice. What was your favorite (or least favorite) part about wedding planning? We loved touring venues, there’s some pretty magical places central Florida has to offer.
If you could pick one thing to do differently in your wedding planning, what would that be? #1 - plan it faster, ha! 15 months felt so long. Can totally see the appeal in eloping now. #2 It’s hard to balance everything when you see the dollar signs going up. Keep it simple, don’t have to do everything we are flooded with on social media these days. Culture has become so over the top. That being said, prioritize your budget and where to spend it. Some things are worth the extra.
