Mat and Alexis first contacted us in March of 2020 to hire us for their wedding plans to be held at the gorgeous Powel Crosley Estate in Sarasota, Florida. It was a match made in heaven when we had the pleasure of talking with them over our initial Zoom consult. We couldn’t wait to make their dreams come true with amazing wedding and engagement photos.
Next chapter: pandemic and quarantine of 2020. Alexis and Mat had reached a point in their wedding planning of no return – difficulties with friends and family being able to join them in the festivities planned. Mat and Alexis set up a phone call with us saying “we have to talk with you guys about something.”
Garry and I of course extended our hearts out to all the couples that were experiencing wedding planning setbacks because of the pandemic and shutdowns, and never wanting to risk the health concerns of dear friends and families. The phone call took an unexpected turn when Alexis started in:
“We are canceling our wedding in Sarasota.”
*Deep Sigh*
She continued, “Instead… we’re going to have a destination wedding in Cancun, Mexico! BUT – we don’t want to make the change unless you guys are willing to come with us. We absolutely love you both and wouldn’t have it any other way.”
*Silence* (and Stacy bouncing up and down in her seat with excited giggles)
Garry finally chimed in, “Um, YES! Of course, we will come with you!”
And so, here is the short long story of an incredible destination wedding at Finest Playa Mujeres in gorgeous Cancun, Mexico between Mat and Alexis and 30 of their closest family and friends.
